For metro Atlanta and north Georgia plants, TS Controls makes the trip down I-85 from Anderson, South Carolina, to troubleshoot and change PLCs, HMIs, drives, and robots at the machine.

PLCs, drives, and robots

On the PLC side, we work on Allen-Bradley from PLC-5 and SLC 500 to ControlLogix and CompactLogix, and Siemens from Step 5 to S7-1500 in TIA Portal, along with the PowerFlex, Kinetix, and SINAMICS drives on those networks.

Our robot programming covers KUKA, FANUC, and ABB, on both the robot and the PLC side of the cell. We also program Beckhoff TwinCAT machines on EtherCAT.

About two hours down I-85

Atlanta is about two hours down I-85 from Anderson, which keeps metro Atlanta within driving range for planned work scheduled around your outage window.

Jobs we can take on

For plants in metro Atlanta and north Georgia, that includes:

  • Changeover logic for a new model or format, and the HMI screens to run it
  • New stations, sensors, or remote I/O added to an existing ControlLogix or S7-1500 network
  • PowerFlex and SINAMICS drive setup and replacement, and Kinetix motion
  • Startup and commissioning support for new equipment on EV and supplier lines
  • HMI rework where the screens no longer match how the line runs
  • Counts, downtime, and line data pulled from the PLCs into Ignition or a SCADA/MES system

Plants we've supported include Volvo, Tesla, and Mercedes-Benz U.S. International. The Mercedes-Benz plant is in Vance, AL.

How the work is planned

  1. Program and photos. Send the program, photos of the panel, and the symptom or the change.
  2. Scope. We review the files and put the work, the outage it needs, and any evaluation visit in writing.
  3. The visit. We work in the window you set and test the changes with your team before the line goes back into production.
  4. Handover. Backups taken after the change, and notes written for the maintenance tech who opens the program next.

For a shutdown with a lot of controls work in it, outage-window planning puts the cutover on paper before the window opens.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Atlanta?

No. Our only office is in Anderson, SC, about two hours from Atlanta on I-85, and Atlanta-area work is scheduled in advance.

Which Georgia towns do you cover?

Our on-site service area includes metro Atlanta and north Georgia, such as Marietta, Kennesaw, Norcross, Lawrenceville, Buford, Gainesville, Cartersville, and Newnan, and we travel anywhere else in the state.

Do you work on older PLCs as well as new ones?

Yes. We keep PLC-5, SLC 500, Step 5, and S7-300 systems running, and when you are ready to replace one, we plan the move in stages. See legacy PLC migration.

Can you get production data out of our PLCs?

Yes. We collect counts, downtime, and line data from the PLCs you already run and bring it into Ignition or your SCADA/MES system. See SCADA/MES integration.

Can you help commission new equipment?

Yes. We support startup and commissioning on Siemens and Allen-Bradley lines and on robot cells, including I/O checkout and the handshake between machines.

Is remote support an option for an Atlanta plant?

Yes, once your IT team has approved a remote access method and it has been set up and tested. Some faults can then be worked without a trip, subject to personnel availability. See remote support.
