Two 1400s running a pump skid. One failed. Distributor shrugged. I can rewrite, but ops wants the same HMI pictures. What is the least-stupid jump that still talks Modbus RTU to the drives?

5380 Compact with a serial card if you must keep RTU. Map the old files to a UDT once. PanelView component or a Plus with converted ME. A 5069 is cleaner iron if you have Ethernet drives you can migrate. Don't buy another 1400 off a classified ad and call it a strategy.
