Periodic MSG reads a recipe UDT. Fine until a FactoryTalk SE screen that shows the same UDT is open. Then the MSG .ER comes and goes. Class 3 overload, or the HMI scan fighting the MSG?

Both. SE on that screen is probably polling the UDT at 50 ms. Put the recipe in a produced/consumed or a dedicated read buffer the HMI hits, and slow the MSG. We also set the MSG to cache connections. Watch the EN2T connection count while the screen is open — you'll see it.
